The former imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Adel Al-Kalbani, raises controversy after his response to “a Saudi citizen who does not believe in what you believe in.”

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Adel Al-Kalbani, the former imam of the Great Mosque of Mecca, sparked controversy among activists on social media, following a tweet in which he responded to a tweeter who asked regarding the fate of a “Saudi citizen who does not believe in what he believes.”

The beginning of the matter was with a tweet by al-Kalbani in which he said: “The religion of Islam unites and does not divide, unites and does not disperse, builds the foundations that establish society, the family, and the nation on one heart, like a solid structure. If one part of it complains, the rest of the body responds to it with sleeplessness and fever.” Narrated by Muslim.

The owner of the account, Taleb Al Abdulmohsen, replied, “Ok, so if a Saudi citizen does not believe in what you believe in? How does she act…I mean, a Saudi citizen considers God just a fantasy whose origin is a Jewish idol. And the Qur’an was written by Muhammad… you include it with you in one body?”, to respond to him Al-Kalbani said: “We pray to God that He afflicts him with a defect in his body that prevents him from sleeping and eating.”

The owner of the account, Bushra Al-Yami, entered the line of controversy, saying with a comment: “A foolish response from an advocate who is supposed to be affiliated with Islam and preaching… So God says, ‘Pray to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good preaching! ?! ‘O you who believe, why did you say what you do not do? It is most abhorrent to God that you say what you do not do’!

For his part, the owner of Shaybah’s account, Muhammad al-Afandi, commented: “People are all concentrated in the narration of the Jewish neighbor, even the sheikh.. He did not pay attention to the words of God Almighty. Summon to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good exhortation, and argue with them in the best way. Indeed, your Lord knows best those who have strayed from His path. Know the guided. God Almighty has spoken the truth.. We ask God to forgive us and you.” Al-Kalbani replied: “The one who said: “Invite to your Lord with wisdom” the verse.. is the same as the one who said: “Strive once morest the infidels and the hypocrites and be harsh once morest them.”

Hussain Ahmed Kumait’s account owner commented, “Fighting the hypocrites with argument, advice, and supplication,” to which Al-Kalbani replied, “And how hard is it?”
