This Friday, around 8 p.m., a major fire broke out in rue des Fossés Fleuris, in Namur. The fire broke out on the first floor of the building housing the Café Fleuri. The second floor was engulfed in flames.
The district hosting many Horeca establishments, several people were present at the time of the events. Customers of some restaurants near the fire had to evacuate the premises. The Namur police were also present to manage the crowds in the neighborhood.
A casualty
An hour later, firefighters had the blaze under control. They proceeded to rescue one person. She was taken care of by one of the three ambulances deployed. His condition is unknown at this time. A pumper, a tank and a ladder were needed for the rescue operation.
Place Maurice Servais, adjacent to the street, being under construction, the firefighters faced accessibility problems to bring the ladder closer to the flames. The Namur police helped with access.
