Working for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan should be anything but a bed of roses. Ex-employees have spoken out regarding their time with the royals – and didn’t paint a good picture.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s villa in Montecito, California looks like paradise. But for their employees, the time in the luxury villa is said to have been more reminiscent of hell.
At least that’s what several anonymous employees who spoke to the US magazine “Star” say. “I wouldn’t work for her once more for a million dollars,” is one of the devastating verdicts.
Strict rules should apply to dealing with the royal couple. “Small talk or eye contact with the gentlemen is prohibited as an employee,” reveals a source. “You mustn’t speak to them unless they speak to you first.”
Half-eaten sandwiches and dirty dishes
Harry and Meghan are said to have given the staff a lot of work with their different personalities. Harry is said to be chaotic through and through and is said to have left dirty dishes and half-eaten sandwiches all over the house.
Meghan is completely different: the Duchess’s sense of order is so pronounced that her employees should hardly be able to keep up. An insider: “The cups in the kitchen cupboards have to be lined up at a certain distance and everything is sorted by colour. If something is out of line, she’ll snap at you.” This should even happen with small details, for example if a pen were lying around without a cap.
It’s not the first time Harry and Meghan’s chef qualities have made headlines. In March 2021, the British newspaper The Times made public allegations by several palace employees who worked for the couple during their time in England. Meghan is said to have “expelled two personal assistants from the royal household and undermined the confidence of a third employee”. Her behavior has even been called bullying.
The palace announced at the time that they wanted to investigate the allegations with an independent investigation. Duchess Meghan has always denied that she bullied employees.
