Pico and license plate for taxis returns this Monday in Medellín

The Medellin Mobility Secretariat announced that from next Monday, March 7 the peak and plate measure for taxis will resume in the city.

The restriction, which will start with vehicles with license plates ending in number 5, It will be applied from Monday to Friday, between 6:00 in the morning and 8:00 at night. The measure will be educational until Friday, March 11.

“The rotation for the first semester of 2022 will be done according to the last number of the license plate, once, every 15 days, from Monday to Friday”, explained Marcela Pedroza, legal undersecretary of the Ministry of Mobility.

The agency also recalled that this measure It does not have exempt routes.

Pedroza added that “non-compliance with this measure will generate a fine of 15 current legal daily minimum wages, which is equivalent to $468,589”.

However, the drivers they will be able to circulate without passengers the day that corresponds to them to abide by the peak and plate, only if they need to carry out repair and maintenance activities of the vehicle. For this, the Ministry of Mobility clarified, it is essential install a notice, with clear type and visible size in the back of the taxi, where it is communicated that it is directed to carry out said activities.

Measure does not apply to electric taxis, hybrids and those that use vehicular compressed natural gas.
