Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo said that his team will make every effort to extend the contract of French star Kylian Mbappe.
And regarding what was reported regarding the club’s offer to Mbappe of an annual salary of up to 50 million euros, Leonardo denied, in an interview with the French newspaper “L’Equipe”, the validity of this matter, and said that Saint-Germain “did not make a specific offer” for the player, whose contract with the Parisian club expires on June 30. Contrary to what was recently published by “Le Parisien” and “AS” newspapers.
The two newspapers, according to Russia Today, talked regarding Paris Saint-Germain offering Mbappe a contract, the most expensive in the history of football, in order to convince the 23-year-old striker to stay in the French capital, while efforts to include him from Real Madrid continue.
The two newspapers claimed that the contract extends for two years, under which Mbappe will receive 50 million euros annually, in addition to a loyalty bonus of 100 million euros.
But according to Leonardo, “that is not true,” stressing that the financial aspect is “secondary” in Mbappe’s eyes: “The last thing we will put in the contract is the amount.”
Leonardo expressed his belief that there are “possibilities” for Mbappe to stay despite Real Madrid’s efforts to sign him, and added, “As long as Mbappe does not sign with any team, we will try everything and do everything we can to keep him.”
Mbappe had announced at the beginning of last February that he had not yet decided on his future, stressing that he would not talk to Real Madrid before the end of the European confrontation between them in the price of the Champions League final.
