An explosion occurred rue André Karman in Aubervilliers, shortly before 5:30 a.m. this Friday morning, BFM Paris learned from the Paris firefighters. The explosion caused a fire in this four-storey apartment building. The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters using a water hose, but the top floor partially collapsed.

On Twitter, the firefighters of Paris call to avoid the sector and not to clutter the emergency lines.

About 150 firefighters mobilized

The provisional report shows 3 seriously injured and 19 slightly injured. Firefighters are checking to see if anyone else is still inside. For this, RSMU teams (Research and Rescue in Urban Environments) specialists in this type of intervention and dog teams are on site. In all, regarding 150 firefighters are mobilized.

“We have our RSMU specialists who are consolidating the building since the top floor has been blown up and partially threatens to collapse”, explains Commander Schupp at the microphone of BFM Paris.

The gas was cut off on part of the street and the building and adjoining buildings were evacuated. For the moment the origin of the explosion is unknown.
