the rant of Patrick Poivre d’Arvor

Tributes follow one another following the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut. Aged 71, the former emblematic journalist of 1 p.m. TF1 died of lung cancer, which he said he had suffered last November. During a special edition dedicated to his disappearance and broadcast last night on TF1, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau, the one who succeeded him in early 2021 at the head of the 1 p.m. news, did not fail to pay tribute to him. “I will never thank him enough for this support before handing over. Until inviting me to his last diary. It’s quite exceptional. It’s quite elegant“, she said.

Other personalities who crossed his path also saluted his memory. This is for example the case of Denis Brogniart, Christophe Dechavanne, Jean-Pierre Foucault, Laurent Fontaine, Evelyne Dhéliat or even Jean-Luc Reichmann. Reached by telephone on the antenna of BFM TV, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor also reacted to this disappearance. “He is a boy that I loved very much. Very curiously we had bonded more since our successive departures from the newspaper than during the time when we were fueling each other (…) He was a friend. It’s a part of my life that’s falling apart“, said the one who is the target of several investigations for rape.

In the followingmath, the flagship host of the 8 p.m. newscast for many years slipped a little rant, denouncing the contempt of part of the journalistic class for Jean-Pierre Pernaut: “He is someone who was unfairly mocked by all this small journalistic class who today obviously will erect Arcs de Triomphe for him, but it was ugly the way they talked regarding the way he himself felt regarding France, felt the French”he lamented.
