Jeddah: Special lanes for trucks have been announced in Jeddah during peak hours. The Public Transport Authority, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Road Safety, has announced special lanes to facilitate the movement of trucks, cross cities and reach destinations faster and reduce waiting time. This is part of the Authority’s efforts to regulate the movement of trucks in major and central cities.
The authority said three lanes had been set up for trucks to pass through the city of Jeddah. Trucks plying from east to south on the Jeezan International Road, trucks from the east on the Riyadh Road to the north and on the Madinah-Rabigh Road to the south, and trucks coming from the north on the Madinah-Rabigh Road to the south and entering the Jeezan International Road will be allowed to operate full time. The Public Transport Authority hopes to improve the logistics sector by designating special lanes for trucks.
