Player Test: Don’t buy the PS5 version of “Ayrden’s Ring” if you have a PS5, the PS4 version is better | 4Gamers

On the ResetEra forum, which is commonly used by European and American players, some players have recently consolidated the reasons why they should play the PS4 version of “Ayrden’s Circle” on the PS5.

The biggest reason is that, according to the tests of various media, if you use PS5 to play, although there will not be a very serious frame drop, but it will fluctuate between 45 and 60, not just mentioned on the ResetEra forum, even European and American media. Eurogamer has also made a test, if you play the PS4 version of “Ayrden’s Circle” in the PS5’s compatibility mode, the FPS can be stabilized at 60.

In addition, ResetEra also said that there are several advantages to playing the PS4 version

  • The screen resolution is 1800p checkerboard rendering, which is softer.
  • There is less vegetation, which will also reduce the sudden appearance (meaning that the vegetation beyond a certain distance will not be visible to the player, and will only be seen when approaching)
  • Ambient light and shadows are weak
  • The PS4 version takes 10 seconds to read from the start of the game to entering the game scene (7 seconds for the PS5 version), and the time to read following death increases by 1 to 2 seconds, which is within an acceptable range.
  • The PS5 version of “Elden’s Circle” does not support technologies unique to the new generation of consoles such as haptic feedback, so the experience is not bad.
  • The PS4 version of the archive can still be upgraded to the PS5, so if you open up support for VRR technology in the future or update the PS5 version better, you still have the chance to go back, but the PS5 version of the archive cannot be reduced to the PS4 version.
  • Finally, the digital versions of PS5 and PS4 are sold together in one package, so it is impossible to buy the wrong one. Just change to download the PS4 version, but the physical version has version differences.
