Ukraine – Dozens of people are killed on both sides in attacks on the Ukrainian cities of Sumy and Kharkov.

Ukrainian authorities on Monday reported dozens of deaths following attacks by the Russian army once morest the Ukrainian cities of Sumy and Kharkov, as part of the Russian invasion launched since February 24.

Ukrainian and Russian armed forces suffered casualties in Moscow’s attack on the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian web portal Antikor reported the possibility of 70 deaths on the Ukrainian side and “a large number” of deaths on the Russian side.

Russian artillery hit a military unit in the attack, and bodies are recovered from the rubble, according to Antikor.

Ukrainian UNIAN news agency reported that the Ukrainian army destroyed regarding 100 Russian military vehicles in the city of Sumy.

Meanwhile, authorities in Kharkov on Monday reported at least nine deaths in a Russian military attack on the country’s second most populous city.

“Nine people were killed, 37 injured and 87 residential buildings damaged by Russian shelling,” Kharkov Mayor Igor Terekhov said in a Facebook video post.

Kharkov region governor Oleh Sinegubov said on Sunday that Ukrainian forces had full control of the city following heavy fighting was reported in the area.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military offensive once morest Ukraine in a televised speech on February 24, days following recognizing the independence of the self-declared republics of Donetsk and Luhansk.
