Manchester City in solidarity with Zinchenko in his own way

Manchester City has decided to show solidarity in its own way with its Ukrainian player, Oleksandr Zinchenko, during his current crisis.

Zinchenko is going through difficult circumstances these days, due to the Russian military intervention once morest his country at the end of last February until now.

This prompted City coach Pep Guardiola to give him the captaincy during the team’s match with Peterborough United in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

This comes following the Brazilian Fernandinho was scheduled to wear it, according to what the club announced through official means, before facing its host in the second division.

But soon following, the English club announced that the armband had been handed over to Zinchenko, just over an hour before the match was scheduled to start.

This step represents a state of solidarity for the club and its coach, because of what the player has been going through since the beginning of the Russian attack on his country.

It is noteworthy that the Russian-Ukrainian crisis greatly affected world football, as the Russian national team was excluded from the World Cup qualifiers, and the European Champions League final was moved from Russia to the French capital, Paris.
