Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is awaiting bids to sell the club and is considering for the first time selling the club.
Reactions escalated following Ukraine invaded Russia, with calls for Abramovich to be removed from the ownership of any club in England.
Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea FC, had issued a statement announcing the handover of the club’s management to the charity.
And the British newspaper Telegraph revealed that Abramovich will receive bids to sell the club this week with at least three parties.
The report indicated that offers are being prepared to reach Abramovich by the end of the week with the threat of sanctions once morest the owner of Chelsea FC, who has faced calls for his assets to be frozen and confiscated following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Chelsea previously insisted that the club is not for sale, but it seems that opinion is starting to change as events develop.
It is alleged that Abramovich is also preparing to sell his mansion in Kensington Palace Gardens.
One big potential hurdle to a Chelsea sale would be to penalize Abramovich before the end of the week, as the parties involved will have to wait for clarity on whether or not they can sell with Abramovich and his partners.
Abramovich had previously rejected offers worth 2.2 billion pounds for Chelsea, while the club’s debts to him amounted to 1.51 billion pounds.
The New York Times reported earlier that British opposition Labor MP Chris Bryant told Parliament on Thursday that Abramovich should not be able to own a football club in the country.
Bryant criticized the government for allowing Abramovich to continue doing business in the kingdom following he said he had seen official government documents from 2019 describing the Russian as having ties to the Russian state and his overt association with corrupt activity and practices.
