War deprives Russians of “Batman”

Entertainment giants Disney, Warner Media and Sony Pictures have suspended the release of their films in Russia, including the latest “Batman” movie.

The decision comes once morest the background of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, similar to other companies that decided to withdraw from the country temporarily or permanently.

“Given the gratuitous invasion of Ukraine and the catastrophic humanitarian crisis, we are suspending the release of films in cinemas in Russia, including the upcoming Pixar movie ‘Red Alert’,” Disney said in a statement.

“We will make future business decisions as the situation evolves,” she added.

The company noted that it is currently working with non-governmental organizations to provide emergency aid and other forms of humanitarian assistance to refugees.

Another major film production company, Warner Media, has also announced that it will “freeze” the release of the latest Batman movie in Russia.

The group stated that it “continues to monitor developments in the situation.”

For its part, Sony Pictures, a subsidiary of the Japanese giant Sony Group, announced the suspension of the release of its films in cinemas in Russia, including the new “Morbius” movie regarding the world of superheroes.

Sony Pictures justified its decision in a statement by “the continuation of military action in Ukraine, and the resulting uncertainty and humanitarian crisis that has arisen in this region.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected and we hope this crisis is resolved quickly,” Sony Pictures added.
