The 20-year-old from New Brunswick didn’t think he might complete his number with his childhood idols during the opening medley. Olivier would have even missed a piece of his performance in the song Perfectfrom Simple Plan, at the beginning.
He said he was shaken by the idea of performing in English in front of his family and friends, which he had never done before, not wanting to disappoint those close to him.
“I don’t understand anything, Lara, I was in the middle of a panic attack… I blackout“, he confided.

Completely surprised by the confession, the director of the Academy had only good words to say regarding the performance of the young man. She even jokingly told him to continue channeling his stress, if it was to give this type of vocal result.
“What?! Well, keep panicking, especially keep panicking, if that’s bad!”
His stress has indeed gone completely unnoticed in the eyes of the public.

Visibly shaken and impressed by his own performance, the Academician said he was proud of his number. Lara ended with a wink to the song I’m Just a Kid, which he sang.
“You are made for this job if you manage to perform in a situation like this. Me, I saw a kid solid, in possession of his means.”
