Chilean economy grows 9% in January: Central Bank

SANTIAGO, March 1 (Archyde.com) – The Chilean economy grew by 9% year-on-year in January supported by a good performance of services and trade, amid the recovery from the impact caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Central Bank reported on Tuesday.

The Monthly Indicator of Economic Activity (Imacec), which represents regarding 90% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the South American country, fell 1% in seasonally adjusted terms compared to December.

The market expected an 11.3% rise in Imacec in the first month.
