Cash investigation on Ehpad: what are the establishments in the sights of Elise Lucet this Tuesday?

This Tuesday at 9:10 p.m., France 2 is broadcasting “Ehpad: l’heure des comptes”, the Cash investigation which comes shortly following the release of Victor Castanet’s shocking book “Les Fossoyeurs”.

This Tuesday, March 1, the issue of Cash investigation devoted to accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people, is particularly awaited and dreaded.

Elise Lucet’s team had begun to devote themselves to the subject before the Orpea scandal broke. With the sensational release of Victor Castanet’s book, “Les Fossoyeurs”, the issue of Cash investigation devoted to Mc Donalds, which was to be broadcast on February 16, has been postponed, so that journalists can complete this investigation which began a year and a half more early.

Numbers 2 and 3 in the sector

On this hot topic, the Orpea group will necessarily be cited in the investigation, but it is not the only one to have attracted the interest of Marie Maurice, the journalist who conducted the investigation for Cash investigation.

In “Ehpad: time for reckoning”, journalists looked at the business of elderly dependency. “Having addressed abuse in Special Envoy and Exhibits, we are investigating the profits made by Korian and DomusVi, the number two and three in the sector”, explained Elise Lucet to TV mag.

Stock market falls

And the news of the broadcast was not without a hitch on the side of the establishments concerned since on February 4, when the issue of Cash investigation was announced, the shares of Orpea and Korian fell on the stock market.

The Korian group is also the target of numerous accusations of mistreatment and lawyer Sarah Saldmann was preparing to launch a class action in early February once morest society. On the Korian site, it is indicated that it is not aware of such a procedure.

The show is therefore also interested in DomusVi, which according to Cash Investigation offers private investors to buy rooms in its establishments. Beyond these investments which seem to pay off big, the survey reveals that the group also manages not to pay its taxes in France.

Open letter from DomusVi

An open letter to Elise Lucet published in Le Figaro also testifies to the anxiety of the establishments targeted in the report. Yves Journel, founder of DomusVi writes: “We will see what you explain on March 1 on television. Know that, for us, human results matter above all“.

“We are neither vultures nor ominous birds”. But “we must multiply the audits, the checks on ourselves, we must increase the power of counter-powers”, he also believes.

A debate will be proposed following the broadcast of this issue of Cash Investigation. It will be moderated by Elise Lucet. Cash Investigation, “Ehpad: time for reckoning” is to be watched this Tuesday March 1 on France 2 at 9:10 p.m.
