Liverpool won the England Carabao Cup (League Cup) following a bloody shootout in which even the goalkeeper was the kicker.

Liverpool won the Carabao Cup final of the 2021-2022 season with Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in London, England on the 28th (Korean time) following a 0-0 draw until extra time and 11-10 on penalties. Liverpool won the Carabao Cup for the first time in 10 years since the 2011-2012 season.

Both teams aggressively attacked the opponent’s goal from the beginning of the game. However, the goal was not scored until the final whistle sounded. The two teams faced off 0-0, but went into overtime, but this time the balance of the game was not broken.

It was Liverpool who smiled broadly in the penalty shoot-out with 11 kickers from each team. After ten players from both teams shook the net, the goalkeepers came out as the eleventh kicker. Liverpool’s Quimin Kelleher scored a shot, but Chelsea’s last kicker, Arisabala, missed the title. According to statistics firm Opta, 11-10 is the highest score ever in a penalty shootout between English clubs.

Liverpool, who won the championship for the ninth time in their career, beat Manchester City (8) to become the most successful team in history. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was honored with winning his 10th trophy as his manager (5 times Dortmund 5 times, Liverpool 5 times) with this win.
