District Panchayat President Samshad Marakkar inaugurated the district level Kalpetta Pulse Polio Immunization. 217 polio booths, including 20 transit points, have been set up to provide drops to 64,953 children in the district. 9 mobile booths were functioning in the district. The polio vaccine was distributed by setting up booths in all places where children might reach, including anganwadis, schools, health centers and bus stands.
Mobile booths were also set up to vaccinate the children of guest workers below the age of 5 years. Arrangements have also been made to provide polio vaccine at home through volunteers to children who have not been vaccinated. Municipal Chairman Kayamthodi Mujeeb presided over the function.

82.8% of children were vaccinated
The DMO said that 53,779 children were vaccinated once morest polio in the district yesterday. K. Sakina informed. A total of 64,953 children were targeted to be vaccinated. Of these, 82.8% were given drops. Of these, 348 are out-of-state children. 897 booths were set up to provide polio drops.
