Viner-Usmanova upset by the deprivation of the gymnasts of the Russian flag and anthem

The head of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (VFCG) Irina Viner-Usmanova reacted to the information that the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) banned the use of the Russian and Belarusian flags and anthems in competitions held under the auspices of the organization. This decision was made due to the tense situation in Ukraine.

“The ban on the use of the Russian flag and anthem is the decision of the IOC, and the FIG is simply obliged to comply with it. I don’t know what’s next for us. I don’t think regarding it. I am very upset by everything that is happening now. That’s all I can say, ”Viner-Usmanova quotes Sport24.

The day before, the Russian rhythmic gymnastics team refused to participate in the Grand Prix stage in Kyiv.

Recall that the political situation between Russia and Ukraine has escalated in recent days. The day before, the heads of the DPR and LPR announced the evacuation of residents due to a possible invasion by Ukrainian troops. After that, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the independence of these regions. On February 24, the head of state announced the start of a military operation on the territory of Ukraine.

Former President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Viner-Usmanova statedthat the national team will not take part in the Kiev stage of the Grand Prix.
