I think we’re all familiar with Tencent at this point in the game. The Chinese giant has a long streak of acquisitions and investments in game studios, where it’s acquired companies like Funcom and Riot Games, as well as large, medium and small size investments in Epic Games (40%), Grinding Gear Games (86%) as well as Ubisoft and Paradox (5%), among others.
Whatever opinion one has on the matter, it is undeniable that this is a fairly understandable movement at the moment, which, for the moment, does not seem to be stopping, since a new studio has officially confirmed its acquisition by Tencent.
1C Entertainment officially announces its acquisition by Tencent
As 1C Entertainment, publisher of Reverie Knights and Men of War among others, shared on its official Twitter account, Tencent has bought out all shares of the company and is now part of Tencent Holdings Limited.
1C Board Member Tomasz Nieszporski shared the following thought in an official statement posted on the 1C website:
