Brasilia, Feb 26 (EFE).- The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) announced this Saturday that it has two KC-390 Millennium multimission aircraft ready for a possible transport of its citizens and other South Americans who are in Ukraine, a country that was invaded by Russian military forces.

“The aircraft are the same model used in other international humanitarian missions, such as transporting donations for the victims of the attack in Beirut (Lebanon) in 2020 and emergency support for the earthquake in Haiti in 2021,” the FAB said in its profile. from Twitter.

The Brazilian Foreign Ministry announced this week that it is coordinating with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of neighboring countries the joint withdrawal of its citizens, in an operation similar to the one in early 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic broke out and several had to leave China.

The FAB, however, did not give details of the operation and where the two military planes would be ready to go into action with the rescue mission.

The news was known shortly following this Saturday a group of Brazilian soccer players who play in the Ukrainian League, led by Marlon and Maycon, Shakhtar Donetsk players, appealed once more in a video for help from the Government of their country and the international humanitarian.

The players and their families, who are in a hotel in Kiev and had made another call two days earlier, gave the Portuguese Government as an example, which carried out an escort and made the vehicles available to transfer the Portuguese footballers to a train station bound for Romania.

The same orientation was given by consular personnel to the Brazilians, who chose not to travel to the train station due to lack of accompaniment by the Brazilian authorities.
