The U.S. is preparing to evacuate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is threatened with arrest or death by Russian troops, but Zelensky rejected the proposal and remained in the capital, Kiev.
The Washington Post reported on the 25th (local time) that the United States had until recently delivered a warning to President Zelensky that Russia had made him a top priority for removal.
Even in January, when the threat escalated, CIA Director William Burns was said to have visited Ukraine to discuss the matter with President Zelensky. The West believes that the purpose of Russia’s attack includes the removal of the current Ukrainian government and establishment of a pro-Russian regime.
In fact, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said he was “deeply concerned regarding the threat to President Zelensky’s life and well-being” and was “ready to help him in any way.”
Despite these growing threats to himself, President Zelensky said he would remain in the capital, Kiev, with his leadership, to assume government responsibility.
In the ‘Selfie’ video he took on the night street of Kiev on the 25th (local time) and posted on Facebook, he said, “We are all here.” said
