An “explosion heard and felt” in the middle of the night in Virginal-Samme: what happened within the Post Office?

“A few minutes ago, loud detonations heard and felt in Ittre”, Thomas reported shortly following 4:30 a.m. this Friday via the orange Alert Us button. An explosion sounded in the night from Thursday to Friday within the Post Office in the village of Virginal-Samme, entity of Ittre in Walloon Brabant. A Bancontact ATM was set on fire and exploded, firefighters confirmed.

Fire men were called at 4:38 a.m. and moved in with a pump and an officer. They vented the smoke. The police were also on the scene.

According to our information, robbers tried to attack the ticket machine by blowing it up. They then tried to go through the back of the building to enter the post office. They didn’t succeed, according to our source. They finally left following 10 minutes, empty-handed.
