Former People’s Power General Election Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in (pictured) said on the 24th that “I think it is difficult to achieve any more” regarding the unification of the People’s Power by Yoon Seok-yeol and the People’s Party presidential candidate Ahn Cheol-soo.

Former Chairman Kim appeared on a radio broadcast on the same day and said, “If you look closely at the announcement of (candidate Ahn’s statement of withdrawal of unification) and read the lines, the unification seems to have already been completed.”

Regarding the fact that candidate Yoon did not receive Ahn’s proposal to unify the opinion poll, former Chairman Kim said, “I would not have received it because I was confident that it might go on like this.” He said, “If there is a will to unify, candidate Yoon is very much ahead of the support of public opinion polls, so what can’t be afraid of?” He said.

However, he said to Yoon, “It seems that I have fallen into a dangerous illusion, confident that I can do it alone.”

Former Chairman Kim predicted that it would be difficult to promote unification once more. “Actually, the story of Candidate Ahn is that there is no way to unify it in terms of time,” he said, asserting that the possibility of the people’s dramatic acceptance of the polls would be “impossible”. Regarding the possibility of unification of negotiations between candidates, he said, “I think it is impossible to unify through negotiations.”

When Lee Tae-gyu, general election director of the People’s Party, and Lee Jun-seok, president of the People’s Power, each held a press conference the day before and disclosed the unification contact process, they interpreted it as “an emotional battle to transfer responsibility to each other later.” Former Chairman Kim said, “The unification with discussion was held in 1963 by Yun Bo-seon and Heo Jeong, and I observed it for 12 hours. It will never happen,” he added.
