Switzerland has 18,423 additional cases of coronavirus in 24 hours on Wednesday, according to figures from the Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP). There are 15 additional deaths and 174 patients have been hospitalized.
Seven days ago, the FOPH announced 21,032 cases. On the same day, he counted 10 deaths and 120 additional hospitalizations. In one week, the number of new cases has thus fallen by 12.4%. At the same time, hospitalizations increased by 45%.
599 people are currently in intensive care. Covid-19 patients occupy 18.10% of the places available in intensive care, whose occupancy rate is 71.00%.
During the past 24 hours, the results of 53,288 tests have been transmitted. The positivity rate stands at 34.6%, compared to 27.8% a week ago. The reproduction rate, which has a delay of regarding ten days, is 0.78.
The Omicron variant represents 100.0% of coronavirus cases sequenced or examined in laboratories over seven days, with a delay of approximately two weeks.
According to the FOPH, 53,093 people are currently in isolation following having tested positive for coronavirus.
A total of 68.84% of Swiss people have already received two doses of the vaccine. Compared to the population aged over 12, the share of fully vaccinated people amounts to 77.98%, indicates the FOPH. In addition, 75.83% of people aged 65 and over and 41.34% of the total population have already received a booster dose.
Over the past 28 days, the total number of infections is 652,081, or 7,487.13 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Since the start of the pandemic, 2,729,941 cases of Covid-19 contamination have been confirmed in the laboratory out of a total of 4,768,956 tests carried out in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The total number of deaths stands at 12,677 and the number of people hospitalized has reached 46,111.
