Sony unveils PlayStation VR2 design

Sony has unveiled the final design of the new VR headset ‘PlayStation VR2’ for the PlayStation 5 (PS5). With the black/white color of the PS5 console and the round sphere design that connects to the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, it has a smoother and more sophisticated appearance. The spherical design expresses the 360-degree field of view that users can experience when they enter the virtual reality world.

The center of gravity and the method of fixing with a single headband, which were well received in the previous version, were brought back. The diopter adjustment dial and stereo headphone jack that can be tailored to the wearer’s eyesight are also inherited, so if you have used the previous version, you can use it familiarly.

A dial function that can adjust the lens position according to the distance between the eyes and a vibration motor have been newly added, and another important point is that a ventilation hole has been added. To solve the problem of fogging and blurred vision while immersing in the virtual world, a separate vent was created and airflow was created. After a lot of design work for smooth airflow, we found the answer.

The PlayStation VR2 development tools have already begun distribution to game developers, and device details and release date will be revealed soon along with a supported game lineup.
