Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov says the Kremlin has not seen US President Joe Biden’s speech on Ukraine.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that the Kremlin had not followed up on US President Joe Biden’s speech on Ukraine.
In a statement to “Sputnik”, Peskov indicated that Russian President Vladimir Putin was holding a business meeting, and that is why he did not see Biden’s speech on Ukraine.
On Tuesday, President Joe Biden spoke in a speech from the White House regarding developments in Ukraine, announcing the New Punishment Package Targeting a number of Russian financial institutions.
He stressed that the United States will impose 4 sets of restrictive measures, noting that they include “full embargo sanctions once morest the Russian “VEB” institution and its military bank, and the application of comprehensive sanctions on the Russian sovereign debt,” and this means “we are cutting off the Russian government from Western funding.”
Russia believes that sanctions will not be a major obstacle to its quest to maintain its security. On Tuesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that Moscow was “not afraid” of Western sanctions because of the recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics.
While the Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, considered that the anti-Russian sanctions will rebound on the West itself, and “will harm global financial and energy markets. The United States will not be neglected, as ordinary citizens will feel all the consequences of high prices.”
