According to the latest rumors, this opus developed by Treyarch was to be an unreleased episode of the Black Ops series. With this postponement, no Call of Duty is on the program for 2023 and according to Bloomberg, it will be a blank year without a new opus in the famous saga.

Last month, Bloomberg was the first media to announce that the Call of Duty license might no longer offer outings every year. Today, it is indeed Jason Schreier, journalist of the same media who confirms the information. According to his sources, le Call of Duty de 2023 (la suite de Black Ops) would have been postponed to 2024 with no replacement plans for that year. The year 2023 should therefore be free of any new Call Of Duty opus with a great return to the saga in 2024.
The reason for this program change would be the failure of Call Of Duty Vanguard (and undoubtedly Microsoft’s takeover and new vision). According to Bloomberg’s sources, Activision made the decision following “a recent episode of the series failed to live up to expectations.” The plans concerning le Call Of Duty de 2022 (Modern Warfare) would be maintained.
This year should also arrive Call Of Duty Warzone 2. Activision and Microsoft are undoubtedly counting on these two new games to maintain the financial stability brought by this gargantuan saga of the video game industry which brews millions of dollars every year (and even billions). The absence of a Call of Duty in 2023 risks leaving a big void, but the saga’s comeback in 2024 is already shaping up to be cataclysmic.
