The beginning was when the police received a report from a man, “the son of the accused,” who said that he arrived at the house following finishing work, and discovered the body of his stepfather, lying on the kitchen floor covered in blood, with a knife and a machete next to him.

Police arrived at the crime scene and arrested Joanne Burke, 61, and charged her with first-degree murder, following taking the life of her physically disabled husband, Melvin Wheeler, 62.
home inspection
The police found the accused, lying on the bed in the bedroom, conscious and alert, but she remained silent, and she was taken to a nearby hospital for an evaluation of her health and mental strength.
Investigators found a mop, broom and other cleaning tools next to the body, and knives and a meat cleaver were found in the kitchen sink.
