Spanish figure skater Barquero trains doping… 4th Beijing Olympics

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics have come to an end, but athletes who test positive for doping continue to come out.

The International Testing Agency (ITA) has confirmed that the banned substance Clostebol was found in a doping sample of Laura Barquero, a 21-year-old Spanish figure skater.

Clostebol is a substance that has a similar effect to the male hormone testosterone and is known to help muscle development.

According to the ITA, “Barquero will be referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) under the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Anti-Doping Rules”.

Barquero and Marco Sandron competed in the figure skating pair event at the Beijing Olympics and placed 11th.

This is the fourth time that a person has tested positive for doping at the Olympics.

Earlier, Iranian male alpine skier Hossein Sabeh Semshaki (37), Ukrainian female skier Valentina Kaminska (35) and Ukrainian female bobsledder Lidiya Hunko (29) were subject to disciplinary action for detecting banned substances.

Russian women’s figure skating Camila Balieva (16 years old), who made a sensation around the world with the ‘doping scandal’ at the Beijing Olympics, was found to be a banned substance in a sample she submitted before the competition.
