Nairobi: Massive explosion at a gold mine. The bomber struck shortly following noon in front of a police station in Burkina Faso, a West African country. The blast killed at least 59 people.
The first blast occurred at around 2 pm local time. Later, eyewitnesses said there were a series of explosions. Burkina Faso is one of the largest gold producing countries on the African continent.

Preliminary information suggests that the blast was caused by dynamite stored in a mine near the town of Gao in southwestern Burkina Faso. Dozens were injured.
