The interest of this end of the Swiss League championship lies above all in the fight for sixth place, directly qualifying for the play-offs. Tuesday evening, two of the contenders for this ticket were directly opposed: HC Visp welcomed the neighbor from Sierre. This derby was Valais right down to the refereeing, since it was Didier Massy who was on the whistle on the ice at the Lonza Arena. In the end, it was the Viègeois who won 3-0 (1-0 1-0 1-0), for the fourth time this season, in five confrontations.

At the end of a balanced first third (12-14 in terms of shots on target), the Haut-Valaisans took the lead… within a second. The 1-0, scored by Raphaël Kuonen on the power play, fell to 19’59. What motivate the troop of coach Daniel Wobmann, who returned from the break inflated to block. The 2-0, signed by Stefan Spinell (24th) only amplified this state of mind. Subsequently, HC Visp did not let go of its bones and therefore made a good accounting operation.

The Viégeois pass to 65 points and at the same time above the bar. They now have a point more than HC Sierre and a game behind. There are still five games left (six for Visp) before the end of the regular season, so nothing is done. But the upper Valaisans have their destiny in their hands.

Les Chaux-de-Fonnier is full of confidence

La Chaux-de-Fonds also got involved in the battle for the fight for sixth place… but by far. Indeed, Chaux-de-Fonniers received the GCK Lions, who still had a small chance of passing Sierre and Viège. Their hopes definitely seem to have been taken away following their 4-0 defeat (2-0 2-0 0-0) once morest HCC.

And at Les Mélèzes, the suspense didn’t last long. Daniel Carbis opened the scoring following just 23 seconds. Then it was Oliver Achermann who doubled the lead 123 seconds later, in power-play. Much stronger than their evening opponents, the Neuchâtelois continued to unfold. The score was made worse by Sondr Olden (31st) and Devin Muller (38th) in the middle third.
