Services wins men’s title at Federation Cup Volleyball Championship In the final, they defeated Indian Railways by three sets (25-20, 28-26, 25-20). Setter Sanjulal, blocker Shafiq Rahman, attacker Niaz Abdul Salam and Libero Deepu Venugopal are the shining stars in the Services column. Jayakumar from Kannur was the co-coach of the team.
Sanjulal from Kozhikode, Kuttyadi and Shafeek Rahman from Kasargod, Kuttikol are Indian Army players. Deepu Venugopal, a native of Payyanur, Kannur, is in the Air Force and Nias is in the Navy.
There were five Malayalees in the Indian Railways team that lost in the Services final. Manu Joseph (Payyannur), Faiz Ahmed (Kunnummal), Alan Aashiq (Vavakkad, North Paravur), OS Sanjith (Maliyekkara, North Paravur) and Vaishakh Ranjith (Verappuzha) were in the railway team.
Minimol Abraham, Jincy Johnson, Ashwani Kandoth and Devika Devarajan are the Malayalee faces in the women’s runners-up Indian Railways team.
