News hardware PlayStation VR 2: Sony unveils the first images of its new virtual reality headset!

On January 5, and following many months of rumors, Sony formalized the development of a new virtual reality headset. At that time, the manufacturer told us regarding the specifics of its helmet, but had not revealed its appearance.

We finally know what the PS VR2 looks like!

If we are talking regarding the virtual reality headset once more on this Tuesday, February 22, 2022, it is because Sony Interactive Entertainment has just revealed what this PS VR2 will look likewhich will be usable on PS5 at an unknown date and price. Predictably, the PSVR 2 carries over to the PS5’s overall color code, with a black interior and creamy white exteriors.

As on the DualSense and the faceplates of the console, buyers will find tiny symbols round, cross, square and triangle, gave a grainy appearance to the whole. Sony also details the design of the PSVR2 Sense controllers, explains that their “Orb” aspect represents the 360° view that we can have by putting on the helmet.

We set ourselves the goal of creating a headset that, in addition to blending perfectly into your living room, would be able to immerse you in your games by making you forget that you are using a headset or a controller. It is for this reason that we have paid particular attention to the ergonomics of the helmet and that we have carried out extensive tests so that it adapts to all head sizes.

Some elements of the first PSVR of the name are also taken over, with the adjustable reach and placement of the headphone jack. The regulars will therefore be on familiar ground, even if the resolution 4K HDR rendering should largely renew the experience. However, some novelties are to be noted, with in particular the addition of a lens adjustment knob and a slimmed down overall design. Yujin Morisawa, Senior Artistic Director, said on this occasion:

When I started working on the design of the PlayStation VR2 headset, I immediately wanted to work on creating a ventilation system that provides good air circulation, like the ventilation grilles. ventilation of the PS5 console. Our engineers came up with this idea to improve ventilation and prevent lens fogging, which will provide gamers with better immersion in their VR games.

I worked on many designs before arriving at the final result. You will notice a small gap between the top and the surface at the front of the visor, which contains the integrated ventilation system. I am very proud of what we have achieved and all the positive feedback we have received so far. I hope PlayStation fans will agree, and I can’t wait for them to try it out.
