Formula 1 | How teams will have to present their F1 cars to fans and the media

Formula 1 has specified the course of the “show and tell” in which Formula 1 teams will be obliged to participate this season, with public presentations of their F1 cars before practice and following qualifying.

F1 weekend schedules are changing this year to do away with the Thursday day, with scrutineering and driver press conferences moved to Friday morning and Free 1 and 2 moving a bit later to accommodate that.

On Friday morning, the teams will be required in parallel to present their cars to the media. There will be another show and tell session following qualifying.

Teams will provide a summary document to the FIA listing “the name and a brief description of all major aerodynamic and bodywork components and assemblies which were not used in the previous weekend or official test session”, in addition to other words: novelties!

The FIA and F1 will define the requirements of what teams must disclose at this stage.

Each team must make both cars available outside their designated garage area for up to one hour, beginning no later than 90 minutes before the start of Free 1.

Cars must be “nominally complete and equipped with all major aerodynamic and bodywork components intended for use” when they hit the track for the first time.

Exceptions to participation in this demonstration will be permitted with the prior written permission of the Clerk of the Course.

On Saturday, half an hour following the finish of qualifying and for a period of up to one hour, a car from five different teams will be identified by the race director and the technical delegate and must be made available for a post-qualification exposure.

A Senior Technical or Sporting Representative must be available for a minimum of 10 minutes, following which they should detail “all major updates to aerodynamic and body components” made since Friday morning.
