Amazon will open its first physical store, Amazon Style, later this year with the aim of reinventing how consumers shop

The most logical thing would be to think that, with the ravages of the pandemic, the days of physical stores are numbered. But Amazon, the e-commerce giant, wants to prove otherwise with Amazon Style.

According to a report by the payment platform Ayden, which helps Mango or L’Oréal, among others, the physical store is the most used sales channel, with 38%. In addition, 24% of the actors consider them necessary.

Despite this, some companies continue to digitalize to face the omnipresent Amazon, although little by little the online channel continues to grow.

Quite the opposite occurs with Amazon, which has presented Amazon Style, the first physical fashion store that will have the same catalog available on its website, as explained in a release the giant.

The physical store will open at the end of 2022 at The Americana at Brand, in Los Angeles, California, and will feature a revolutionary concept in terms of the purchasing process, with important technological advances.

Integrate the digital and the physical, Amazon’s strategy

Instead of opting for a single channel, it seems that experts say that the future of the textile industry goes through omnichannel. Thus, Amazon has a clear strategy, although this first physical store is just a test for the future.

First, Amazon Style will feature Amazon Shopping integration, where consumers will be able to scan a QR code on the item to view details such as colors, customer ratings or sizes.

By means of a button, they will be able to send the garments to a dressing room or directly to the box for their acquisition. In this sense, there will be no shelves with clothes, but displays so that consumers can choose the preferred option from their mobile.

A big change from traditional brick-and-mortar stores, which pile clothing on their shelves, requiring consumers to physically come into contact to search for the size, model or color.

Second, despite the fact that technology is the fundamental protagonist of this physical store, the employees will continue to be present, in order to guide consumers or solve any payment problem.

In short, Amazon wants to be present in the physical world as well, where it has numerous logistics centers.

Although at the moment it has only been announced in Los Angeles, it is expected that for the following year, if the initiative is successful, it will be extended to different locations.
