Storm Franklin hits Ireland and Great Britain

Storm Franklin swept across the British Isles, causing power outages, flooding and road and rail traffic disruptions.
For the third time in a few days, Ireland and Great Britain have been hit by a severe storm. After the storms “Dudley” and “Eunice”, which were called “Ylenia” and “Zeynep” in Germany, storm “Franklin” caused destruction on the Irish island and in England on Monday night.
In the Republic of Ireland, 30,000 homes and businesses were without power this morning. In Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom, 10,000 households were temporarily cut off from electricity. Thousands more were affected in northern England. Many fallen trees caused obstructions in road and train traffic. In Greater Manchester, sections of the M6 motorway have been closed following accidents involving lorries. Several train operators across the country, including London, canceled connections and advised once morest train travel.
The River Don burst its banks in the English county of South Yorkshire. A total of 187 flood warnings were in effect in England as of Monday morning. As an expert from the British weather service told the broadcaster Sky News, it is the first time that the UK has been warned of three severe storms in just seven days.
