AMLO: the right side backwards

As a central part of his campaign promises, Lopez Obrador It included the eradication (not just combat) of corruption and impunity. And establish a genuine rule of law, the opposite of what Gabriel Zaid had called the “State of Chueco”, an expression that he took up once more AMLO.

Things seem to have gone the other way, or at least stuck. On the one hand, what we can assume is that there was a Impunity Pact with Peña grandson (which AMLO offered since 2016). On the other hand, Epigmenio Ibarra insists daily that former presidents should be called to account for their corruption and infractions, and even an official consultation was held for this. Despite not having participated in that consultation (because it was money thrown in the trash), the vast majority of Mexicans want punishment for the corrupt as a precedent so that corruption seriously decreases. But the person with the most influence to make that happen doesn’t want it, and he has said so. Upon his victory, he told Carmen Aristegui —whom he still respected— that he would not call any former president to account because stability would be put at risk (the same pretext as Fox). But she promised him that he would consult regarding it. It was done, but to no avail.

On the other hand comes the temptation of personal revenge, as with Rosario Oaks. Not that Robles has no responsibility in the Master Fraud (she is accused of omission), but that she was imprisoned without trial, which was not appropriate in her case. She made the serious mistake of “trusting Mexican justice”, since Mexico is run by a Bolivarian-style president (who totally despises the law). Hence, Ricardo Anaya prefers not to trust in a “Bolivarian justice”. And that brings us to the case of Emilio Lozoya. He managed to deceive the government for months that he had elements to involve regarding 80 big and medium fish for Odebrecht. He had nothing, so his “protected witness” status was withdrawn and he is in jail.

But one of those involved in such falsehoods was Ricardo AnayaWhy is he still being persecuted? He has already stated that in his file, delivered by the FGR, nothing matches; no characters, no dates, no places. It seems more like another case with political intentions (Anaya treated AMLO very badly during the national debates in 2018).

Then comes what should prevail in a Rule of Law; the sanction to collaborators, allies and even relatives. There are many cases: Bartlett, Pio, delphine gomez (which has already been proven guilty of an electoral crime, of a serious nature), and yet he even maintains his position. Was that the “rule of law” that AMLO offered? Go forward.

Now the case of Jose Ramon Lopez Beltran. I have no proof of influential, or other violations. They are coming out little by little. But of course, AMLO’s overreaction suggests that there is something very dirty here. If there was nothing, he might just say to investigate as much as they wanted, submit the relevant documents, and do something else. But no. He has been with that for days and with an anger that we have rarely seen. La Jornada exhibited “proof” documents that anyone can obtain and put the information they want (including Mickey Mouse).

If it were proven that there was something illicit in this case, his effective speech in favor of “courageous honesty”, “republican austerity”, “happiness without wealth”, the “moral reference” of Brunette, its “historical transformation”, etc., would collapse. And that would not only affect his aspirations to share the historical glory together with Juárez, Madero and Cárdenas, but it would also put at risk the disputed states in the next elections, and above all, in 2024. His emotional language in this case suggests that there there may be something quite fat.
