Schools in the state will be fully operational from today. About 47 lakh students are coming to school today together. This is the first time schools have been fully open since the outbreak of the Kovid epidemic. Schools will operate in full compliance with Covid standards.
The schools, which closed in March 2020, will now be fully operational following a 23-month hiatus. About 47 lakh students will be attending schools tomorrow.
There are more than 38 lakh students in classes one to ten, seven and a half lakh students in the higher secondary section and sixty six thousand students in the vocational higher secondary section.
There are one lakh and ninety one thousand teachers and twenty two thousand non-teachers in the schools. Minister V Sivankutty said that the preparations have been completed and the schools will be run in compliance with the Kovid norms as per the guidelines.
The schools will be fully operational with the coordination of the Public Education, Health, Transport, Local and Home Departments. It also provides awareness to students arriving at schools.
Classes for the pre-primary section will be held every day from Monday to Friday, covering 50 per cent of the students till noon. Lunch will be provided to all students involved in the lunch program from pre-primary to eighth grade.
