With the closing ceremony tonight (20th), the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics came to an end.
1. Athletes enjoying the festival
Unlike the opening ceremony, the flag squad entered the closing ceremony first. The rider of the Korean squad was speed skating 500m silver medalist Cha Min-kyu. After entering the world, players from all over the world performed ganggangsullae together, showing off the free spirit of the festival.
2. The Last Awards Ceremony Without a Country (feat. Doping)
At the closing ceremony, the final awards ceremony was prepared for the cross-country athletes called the ‘marathon on the snow’. Alexander Bolshnov of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) won the gold medal in the men’s 50km cross-country mass start. However, Tchaikovsky’s music was played instead of Russia’s national anthem due to disciplinary action once morest doping in the past Olympics.
3. Goodbye Beijing Olympics
After the performance themed on the willow tree, a symbol of parting in China, the closing ceremony concluded with the announcement of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
We are proud of the Korean players who showed great performances during the 17-day journey! I will cheer for the next Olympics.
