A siren is blaring to announce an air strike in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine.

High-ranking Ukrainian officials and reporters patrolling the conflict zone took refuge in narrow shelters to avoid mortar attacks.

Since the 17th, fighting between government and rebel forces has continued every day in the Donbas area.

Ukrainian government forces, which receive military support from the U.S. and other Western countries, said that the bombardment of pro-Russian separatist rebels in Donbass resulted in numerous casualties for allies.

He claimed that the rebels were violating more than a dozen ceasefire agreements every day.

<미카일로 드라파티 / 연합군 작전 부사령관> “The artillery fire of the rebels does not stop. I can’t even measure the intensity of the shelling. From the 17th to the 19th, 60 to 65 shells were fired every day.”

The West appears to be suspicious of armed acts in the Donbas region as an operation to create an excuse for Russia to invade Ukraine.

However, the rebel side countered that the government forces had bombarded the rebel area, raising the level of response.

The pro-Russian governments of Donetsk and Lugansk, which belong to Donbas, have issued a ‘General Mobilization Order’, stating that the possibility of war with government forces has increased, and issued an edict stating that men aged 18 to 55 should not evacuate.

He also ordered the evacuation of 700,000 people, including women and children, across the border to the Rostov region of Russia.

The possibility that the Ukrainian government army and pro-Russian rebels will engage in a proxy war between the West and Russia, respectively, is growing amid concerns that the fighting in the Donbas region may be the prelude to a war in Ukraine.
