Scientists consider it very likely that it is impact glass formed during cratering processes.

The Yutu-2 rover of the Chinese mission Chang’e 4 has discovered two translucent glass globules on the far side of the Moon, reveals a study published in the scientific journal Science Bulletin.

The globules were captured by the rover’s panoramic camera on their way around the Von Karman Crater.

At the moment, scientists lack data on the composition of the blood cells, although they believe that, given “special morphology and the local context”, it is very likely that it is impact glass formed during cratering processes.

“The glass spherules record important information on the composition of the mantle and the history of lunar volcanism and impact cratering,” say the researchers. As they explain, the glass globules are the result of a widespread phenomenon on the Moon, so they might serve as the perfect sample for study in depth the history of lunar processes.

The Yutu-2 robotic rover, which is part of the historic Chang’e 4 mission, was launched on December 7, 2018 and entered lunar orbit five days later, before starring in the first moon landing on January 3, 2019. hidden side of our natural satellite.
