Boris Johnson calls allies to “unity” in the face of the crisis in Ukraine

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on Saturday for allies to “unite” in the face of the risks of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“We must stand united once morest the threat,” Boris Johnson told the Munich security conference, stressing the “shock” an invasion would bring to the world.

“The risk is that people come to the conclusion that aggression pays,” he stressed, “we must not underestimate the seriousness of the moment.”

“Precisely through this unity we show that we still have a chance to avoid disaster and make common sense prevail,” he said.

The British leader also pointed out that British sanctions in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine would make Moscow’s use of the British financial center “impossible”.

“As I said to President Putin in our last debate, we in the UK continue to hope that diplomacy and dialogue can succeed,” he said.
