In a rare statement, Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel have denied rumors of an alleged impending split. “We don’t usually comment on rumors and speculation,” the couple wrote on Saturday on the Swedish royal family’s social media channels for a joint photo. “But for the protection of our family, we want to make it clear once and for all that the rumors that are being circulated are completely unfounded.” Within a very short time, the couple received a lot of encouragement from Swedish society.

The 44-year-old heir to the throne has been married to 48-year-old Prince Daniel since 2010. Recently, the separation rumors had increased. Royal communications manager Margareta Thorgren told Swedish broadcaster SVT the couple decided to make the unusual statement to put an end to the rumours. These simply did not disappear, although they had already been denied in serious media. (dpa/tar)
