27% of African women start a business, while fundraising for start-ups on the continent has been booming in 2021.

This is the amount raised by African start-ups in 2021, notes the latest report from the investment fund Partech, which lists some 680 fundraisers on the continent. “This new record reflects a very active ecosystem, where almost 3 transactions are concluded per week”, adds Partech Africa. Above all, the continent seems to be breaking a glass ceiling: that of fundraising of more than 100 million dollars. They went from 8 to 14 in one year. Another notable fact, some 56% of the funds are allocated to fintech. And these funds benefit from the African paradox, namely the lower bankarization of the continent.
