Because of “Al-Israa Wal-Miraj” .. an Egyptian actor withdraws from “The Atheist”

After the statements of the Egyptian journalist Ibrahim Issa regarding the “Al-Isra and Al-Miraj” trip sparked widespread controversy in Egyptian circles, the Egyptian actor, Mustafa Darwish, announced his withdrawal from filming the movie “The Atheist” despite finishing some scenes from the work.

In the details, Darwish attributed the decision to withdraw to what the film’s writer Ibrahim Issa said recently regarding the “Isra and Mi’raj” trip, statements that sparked great anger in the country.

Through Facebook, Darwish commented, stressing that he decided to boycott any program for the media, Ibrahim Issa, as well as apologizing for the movie “The Atheist”, in which he is co-starring, and written by the first, despite the start of filming and the completion of some scenes.

The actor also believed that there was a systematic war whose concept he did not explain, saying, “I will never be a tool for war once morest my religion, even if the price will be any.”

At the end of his speech, he apologized to all the work team for his decision to withdraw, so opinions were divided between supporters of his opinion and those who rejected it, which prompted him to come out once more and clarify the nature of the film.

A few minutes later, he published an explanation for the audience, in which he confirmed that the film, whose story Ibrahim Issa wrote, does not encourage atheism at all, stressing his keenness to clarify some concepts out of respect for the creators and heroes of the work.

While the makers of the movie “The Atheist” did not comment on Darwish’s decision, and who would replace him or compensate for the damage that occurred, as a result of filming some scenes and then apologizing for the rest.

It is noteworthy that the journalist Ibrahim Issa was recently subjected to a sharp attack by activists on social networking sites, following his statements he made during his program last Tuesday, which sparked widespread anger in Egyptian circles.

As for the movie “The Atheist”, it stars Ahmed Hatem, Hussein Fahmy, Mahmoud Hamida, Sherine Reda and other stars.
