Regional State: the articles that the Convention ratified as part of the proposed Constitution | Special

The Plenary of the Convention approved to go from a unitary state, to a Regional, Plurinational and Intercultural state. The article will be written in the draft of the constitutional proposal.

The plenary session of the Constituent Convention defined this Friday the articles on the form of the State, which will be incorporated into the proposal for a new Constitution, consecrating the definition of Regional State.

Total, 24 of the 28 articles of the report of the State Form Commission managed to be approved, either totally or partially, so they will become part of the proposal for a new Constitution.

Some approved regulations were Article 18: “Of the Autonomous Regions”, which defines them as “political and territorial entities endowed with legal personality under public law” and that have “the management of its economic resources and the exercise of legislative, regulatory, executive and supervisory powers”.

It is worth mentioning that section 1 of article 1 was also approved in particular: “Of the Regional State”. This was supported with 112 votes, 34 once morest and 2 abstentions.

This article is related to the fact that “Chile is a regional, plurinational and intercultural state made up of autonomous territorial entities, within a framework of equity and solidarity among all of them, preserving the unity and integrity of the state.”
