Not a miracle solution, but very effective!
Launched last October, the Ricochet anti-cheat system deployed on the latest productions of the giant Activision has repeatedly distinguished itself for its effectiveness and, in the space of a few weeks, he might boast of having sanctioned tens of thousands of cheaters. By the end of the year, Activision will launch new installments of Warzone and Modern Warfare who will really need this tool, this is why the publisher wanted to take stock of Ricochet’s performance in a press release posted on its blog.
Over time, cheat developers have looked for new ways to exploit the game. Some have succeeded, but many others have not. Although a recent increase in cheating has been noted, even if not at the level of old Verdansk figures according to our data, any increase is frustrating (…) Our team is constantly monitoring and will continue all efforts to prevent and combat this as much as possible. This fluctuation is expected, and while anti-cheating isn’t a silver bullet, it’s a battle we’re committed to fighting.
According to the latest news, and according to Activision, the phenomenon of cheating has clearly decreaseddespite some jolts, going so far as to reach a historically low level » during the last weeks. If the American publisher points to an endless battle once morest cheaters, it still has some ammunition.
Activision does not intend to reveal all of its cards
To reassure players who have been complaining regarding this scourge for months, Activision took advantage of its press release to unveil one of its new features, called “Damage Shield”.. Behind this name hides a program able to identify cheating in real time to apply a sort of penalty to players who break the rules.
When the server detects that a cheater is altering the game in real time, it disables the cheater’s ability to inflict critical damage on other players. This mitigation leaves the cheater vulnerable to real players and allows Ricochet to gather information regarding the cheater’s system. We are tracking this to ensure that there is no possibility for the game to apply damage shield randomly or by accident, regardless of skill level. To be clear, we will never intervene in shootings between members of the community respecting the instructions. The Damage Shield is no longer in testing and has been rolled out globally.
This is not the only project that Activision is working on to improve the performance of Ricochet. However, the editor does not want to say too much for security reasons in order to prevent cheaters from already looking for a parade in the next deployments.. Either way, the company is stepping it up a notch in its fight once morest cheating by announcing that in the event of violations ” extreme and repeated of the rules, players will be banned on all accounts they own. Suspensions which will also be retroactive and applicable to future games: cheaters be warned!
