Broadcaster MC Ding Dong (43, real name Huh Yong-woon, photo) was caught driving under the influence and had to leave the program.
According to a broadcaster on the 18th, Ding Dong will step down as the pre-MC for KBS 2TV’s entertainment programs ‘Immortal Song’ and ‘Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook’.
He apologized directly to the fans on Instagram that day, saying, “First of all, I sincerely apologize for causing concern with bad news.”
Then, he said, “I was driving home with my car because it was near my house, and the number of license revoked came out.
“I am deeply regretful and reflecting on the fact that such an incident has occurred regardless of the reason,” he added.
He further added, “Once once more, I bow my head and deeply apologize to all those who have been harmed because of me.”
The Seoul Jongam Police Station booked Ding Dong on charges such as violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) and obstructing the execution of official duties.
Ding-dong did not respond to a request to stop and fled when the police caught drunk driving near Hawolgok-dong, Seongbuk-gu, around 8:37 pm the day before. In the process, it was reported that a police car was also hit and the policeman was injured.
At that time, the police responded to a report saying “there was a car that was driving while staggering,” and Ding Dong drove his own white Benz.
The police arrested Ding Dong around 2 am that day, and his blood alcohol level was said to be above the license revocation level of 0.08%.
Ding Dong added to the controversy by broadcasting a live broadcast of the sale of a new smartphone at an online shopping mall at 11 a.m. on the same day following the news of the drunk driving arrest. In addition, it was reported that he posted a photo taken while drinking on his Instagram story this morning, but deleted it immediately following news of the drunk driving conviction spread. It is known that he posted a photo of Yangju in a related post and left it as “Precious people and precious alcohol.”
