Sydney: Beaches closed in Sydney, Australia following a swimmer was killed in a shark attack. Bondi and Brown’s beaches, tourist attractions, are also closed. It has been 60 years since a man was killed in a shark attack in the city and the beaches closed. Simon Nellista, 35, a British citizen, was killed Wednesday evening in Little Bay Beach, east Sydney.
The accident happened on the eve of the Malabar Magic Ocean Swim, an annual competition attended by tens of thousands of swimmers. Drum lines used to bait sharks have been set up near the site of the attack. Authorities said drone surveillance was continuing to confirm the presence of the shark in the area.
